Art Off Pike: Creative Urban Arts Festival Celebrates 10th Anniversary 


September 28, 11 am - 9 pm, Art Off Pike takes place on 7th Street between Washington and Madison. Free and open to the public, art lovers can visit the festival to browse the works by more than 50 talented artists, then take time to watch artistic demonstrations and enjoy performances geared at fun for the entire family.

An eclectic mix of all things arts and culture, the 10th annual Art Off Pike celebrates this year with a performances, dance, music, fashion and film. There’s a lot happening this year, check out the schedule below and enjoy all that an urban arts festival has to offer.

ACTIVITIES

11:00 – 1:00 Make the sidewalk come to life with Baker Hunt Art & Cultural Center. Explore the fun, vibrant, and hands-on nature of chalk mural painting.  Baker Hunt will also be providing information on our upcoming Fall class and workshop session, scholarship opportunities, and special events at our booth.

11:00 – 5:00 Craft coil pots with the Behringer Crawford Museum while enjoying the work of Northern Kentucky Artist Harlan Hubbard.

12:00 – 2:30 Join Visionaries and Voices artist Curtis Davis and paint your own "Wonderful Flower"!  Participants will look at the layered paintings of Curtis Davis, noticing his use of thick paint and wide brushstrokes. After watching Curtis paint participants will create their own big, beautiful and vibrant flowers!

2:30 – 5:00 Join Visionaries and Voices artist Tammy Smith and create your own "Mix + Match Building"! Come explore Covington Architecture by looking around you and at photos of prominent buildings all over the city. After choosing two buildings, participants will combine various aspects of both into a new and unique building. Using shades of gray + white on black canvas, participants will draw their piece using paint markers.

CREATIVE PLACE-MAKING

2:30 – 4:00 CoSign, signage unveiling and walking parade along the Madison Avenue Corridor.  

Cosign, is a program connecting small business owners, designers, and a sign fabricator to create and install a critical mass of new storefront signage.  Starting on Madison Avenue, a walking parade of participating businesses, participants and interested community members will unveil a new sign every 10 – 15 minutes with the parade ending at Art Off Pike around 4 pm.

EVENING ACTIVITES IN THE MADLOT

6:00 – 9:00 The Gorilla Cinema transforms the MadLot into a traveling sideshow theater with an outdoor screening of The Goonies, gourmet food, craft cocktails and live music from Cincinnati’s Heavy Hinges.  

Your path begins with a free movie ticket + a treasure map that [if you so choose], will lead you to hidden gems throughout Cincinnati and Kentucky. To participate in their interactive scavenger hunt click here!  Cash in your collected clues for a handsome reward at the movie event. Or, for our more passive adventurers, come empty handed and ready to simply sit back and enjoy the show.
